18th July, 2026: Introduction post

Welcome onboard my spaceship! I hope you’re ready to explore the corners of the universe with me!

Before I start posting about all the things that interest me, I thought I’d do a little introduction about myself and the things I’m planning to share on here. You probably ended up on here because you know me personally, but even then there might be things you don’t know about me, depending from where you know me. I love yapping, so an introduction post sounded like the perfect way to kick off this little project. Introductions are always a bit cringe, but long ago I decided to embrace the “to be cringe is to be free” motto, because we are all cringe sometimes! And being scared of being cringe only holds us all back. So here we go.

I’m Jay, my pronouns are he/him and they/them, I was born in the mid 90s and I have a broad scale of interests, really. I love to party, I love to make art (more on that later), I love to learn. I love cute things, like plushies, the color pink and all things Sanrio. I love queer culture, especially the parts that embrace community, togetherness and support. I like the labels genderqueer, trans masc and bisexual for myself and I’m in a loving and healing T4T relationship with my gorgeous, smart and funny Goddess-girlfriend.

First and foremost I am an artist; my earliest childhood memories were all related to painting, drawing and learning through plenty of “how to draw Manga” books. Painting and writing are my favorite ways to express myself and to process feelings and experiences. Poetry is a relatively new artistic outlet for me, I started writing poetry in January 2021 and it’s been a massively helpful way to cope and process. It’s therapeutic to me and very personal. And yet I’ve been sharing many of those poems I wrote since then online, mainly on my Instagram account, because I know it can help people feel seen and feel less alone. Mental health is a special interest of mine, as I have been struggling with my own mental health since my childhood. I’ve been through therapy, which helped me immensely and I love sharing the things I learned there with people who might need it. With my writing I hope I can open up a dialogue about these struggles, but also provide comfort and the feeling of “omg I’m not alone with this. I’m not an abnormal freak.” I know I’ve had these thoughts before and if there’s ways to make people feel more okay, less alone, less sad – even just a little bit – then I will try my best to do exactly this.

So what exactly do I write about? The ups and downs of the human experience, the sadness, the emptiness, the frustration and the anger that come with being a human in the 21st century. I write about busy dancefloors, the feeling of freeing your mind at the club, the hedonism of it all. I write about love and relationships, about loving so much it hurts, about queerness, what it means to be bisexual in a monosexual-centric society, what it means to be non-binary in a binary society, what it means to date and to be a trans person in a world that hates us so much it wants to destroy us. I write about beauty and pain, about sex and lust, about my body and the way it changes. In the end, everything I write about is a deep, intimate glimpse into my soul and I am tired of the way social media does not encourage people to interact with the writing I share on there. I don’t thrive on likes on my posts. Instead I wish more people would comment what they felt when reading what I share. So when you’re on here, browsing and reading my poetry, feel free to message me if anything specific touched you, made you think, stuck with you for a longer time.

Other forms of art I enjoy making ranges from prints to acrylic paintings to sketches and doodles in my sketchbooks, stick and poke tattoos, making objects out of all sorts of materials, building and painting Warhammer miniatures and more. Seeing how every artist that makes political content or creates sexual art has to censor themselves on all the social media networks makes me upset. I paint beautiful artworks of my girlfriend, some of them picture her naked and I don’t agree with censoring nudity in art. So expect those kinds of paintings on here, as well as anything else I want to share. Maybe it’s just some of my favorite sketchbook pages, maybe it’s a huge painting, maybe it’s new prints and stickers, who knows! I am very excited to have a place where I can share my artwork without having to censor it.

Other things I would love to share on here are essays I write – they might usually be related to art and art history, but might also touch on current politics. I just recently discovered that I enjoy writing essays, as I have a lot of opinions and special interests, so this blog will be the perfect space to share my essayistic adventures.

Another project I’m currently working on is learning how to DJ, together with my girlfriend. We DJ with vinyls and my collections of vinyls is ever-growing. The genres I want to focus on at the moment are Disco and various genres of House, aswell as Trance. My secret mission is to bring more Pop songs to the dancefloors, as I highly disagree with the anti-Pop sentiment a lot of Electronic music lovers seem to have. I love Pop music! And you will probably see a lot of blog posts where I talk about Pop artists, albums and songs I discover and recommend. Or about vinyls I recently bought. I will also update about our DJ learning progress, and hopefully post about events you might see us play at some point.

I also want to review media I consume on here, mainly the books I read, as I don’t watch a lot of movies. The books I enjoy range from sci-fi, to mystery and thriller, to YA and literary. I most often look for and read books that have queer themes in them and are written by queer authors, but I also generally like to read from a broad spectrum of authors – I enjoy reading stories that are different to my own experiences and learn about all sorts of things through the books I read. I generally do tend to prefer female and non-binary authors above male authors, though.

So, now that all the introduction is out of the way, I can’t wait to share things on here! I don’t know how often I get to post, it might vary, depending on how busy I am or if I have anything interesting to share.
